Botanical Art Gallery
Grootbos Private Nature Reserve
Architetcure and Interior
Celebrating the treasures of the botanical heritage of Grootbos, the gallery houses a unique collection of botanical illustrations which itself is set amidst fynbos and a Milkwood Forest.
The building consists of a series of connected exhibition spaces organised on the East West axis to allow high level South-light into each exhibition space. The route through the exhibition spaces is dramatised with a series of corresponding lower and higher volumes delineated with curvilinear walls which draws visitors between the exhibition spaces. Framed windows allow glimpses of the exterior landscape and flora without distracting from the exhibition.
