Fynbos Villa
Grootbos Private Nature Reserve
Architecture and interiors
Located in pristine fynbos with views over sand dunes, walker bay and the Hermanus mountains in the distance. Designed to respond to harsh weather conditions and different seasonal wind directions, the living spaces generously open to a combination of sheltered decks and courtyards. The house echoes the layered nature of the landscape with an articulated and repeated combination of primary and secondary forms consisting of flat and low-pitched roofs. Visual Axes along the width and length of the building maintain a constant connection with the outside and reinforce the organisation of the building. The interior is a seamless extension of the architecture.
