Grootbos Forest Lodge
Grootbos Private Nature Reserve
Architetcure and Interior
Located at the edge of an ancient Milkwood forest, this building houses the public areas of the hotel including the restaurant and lounge areas. The structural spine along the length of the building is expressed with a series of columns which give rise to the timber roof metaphorically representing the Milkwood forest. The massive spine wall organises the building spiritually and functionally separating the public spaces from the private service components. The spine wall extends into the fynbos anchoring the building into the landscape.
