Located on a Contemporary Cape Architecture estate on the Eastern edge of Franchhoek, on the slopes of the Hottentots Holland Mountains. The accommodation is assembled in a composition of separate barns around a central werf. The manor house H form connects the living spaces with a generous covered verandah overlooking the pool, vineyard and the Franchhoek valley in the distance. The living space in turn opens to a deep marble lined Mediterranean courtyard on the Eastern side cooled by mountain stream water which is channelled through the courtyard. The internal spaces throughout the buildings connect tenuously with the surrounding landscape while the spaces between the buildings hold a ceremonial tension.
